‘Gru 4. Despicable Me 4’ premieres in our country, with a new story, on July 3
Seven years is a long time, but thank goodness they’ve already passed. And now it’s time to go to the cinema to reconnect with the chaos, the laughter, the frenetic adventure and the action of a saga that has conquered numerous generations since its first installment was released, back in 2010 and, with the release of this last one, it already forms an unmissable sextet.
Gru 4. Despicable Me welcomes a new member to the family made up of Gru, Lucy and the girls Margo, Edith and Agnes: Gru Junior, who comes into his father’s life with the same purpose as the rest of the children: to make his life impossible.
This time, Gru will also have to face a new villain, Maxime Le Mal and his evil girlfriend Valentina. This will cause the entire clan to go on the run, causing all kinds of hilarious situations.
A new member in the family
Gru 4. Despicable Me maintains all the subversive and crazy character of the Illumination saga. It is directed by the co-creator of the Minions, the Oscar nominee Chris Renaud, and produced by the founder and CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri, as well as Brett Hoffman (executive producer of Super Mario Bros: The Movie and Minions: The Rise of Gru). The script is by Mike White, winner of two Emmys for the magnificent series The White Lotus and veteran Ken Daurio, writer of the previous installments of Despicable Me.
The precedent of Gru 4: Despicable Me It was a bomb at the global box office. Minions: The Origin of Gru came to raise more than a billion dollars worldwide, making it the largest animated saga in history. This new chapter, in addition, in its original version, continues to rely on the voices of Oscar nominee Steve Carell, and in its version dubbed by Florentino Fernández; Kristen Wiig and Patricia Conde, respectively, provide their voices to the character of Lucy.
In addition, the character of Maxime Le Mal benefits, in its original version, from the brilliant performance of Will Ferrell and his sophisticated girlfriend Valentina is Sofia Vergara. Likewise, this new story comes with a cast of characters with the voices of Joey King (Bullet Train), Stephen Colbert, one of the best TV hosts in the US, Pierre Coffin as the iconic voice of the Minions and Oscar nominee Steve Coogan returns as Silas McCulloch.
The film’s director, Chris Renaud, assures that to maintain such a long-lasting franchise it is necessary to preserve its freshness: “Our goal is to satisfy the public’s affection for these characters while incorporating new elements to invigorate the narrative (…) As happens With the depth of the characters from the James Bond saga, we immerse ourselves in Gru’s world of supervillains and heroes, intricately intertwined with his family life. Each installment offers new challenges for Gru both professionally and personally.ensuring a dynamic and captivating plot that keeps audiences coming back for more.”
For his part, screenwriter Kevin Daurio defines the saga with the word “Magic. Magical is the only word that comes to mind (…) These films are a global success because they are about love and family.” The director continues this message: “At bottom, they are about feeling identified. They are human beings with human problems… and, in addition, they are always very funny.”
