Pennywise will be back to terrorize adults and children in a new television production. Welcome to Derry It will be the first spin-off series from the universe of Item which will function as a prequel to the film saga that began in 2017 and will hit home screens through HBO and Max. This spin-off which is already in production will not only feature the return of Bill Skarsgård as the titular villain, but has expanded its cast with ten new members.
According to a new report, Welcome to Derry has added to its ranks Alixandra Fuchs (Hatfields & McCoys), Kimberly Guerrero (Longmire), Dorian Gray (Star Trek: Discovery), Thomas Mitchell (RoboCop), BJ Harrison (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Peter Outerbridge (Saw VI), Shane Marriott (fargo), Chad Rook (Joe Pickett), Joshua Odjick (The Swarm) and Morningstar Angeline (Westworld). Newcomers to the series join Madeleine Stowe (12 Monkeys), Jovan Adepo (Watchmen), Chris Chalk (Gotham), Taylor Paige (The toxic avenger), James Remar (The Warriors) and Stephen Rider (Daredevil).
First announced in early 2022, Welcome To Derry It was described as a derivative production of the work of Stephen King that will expand the history of Pennywise while offering a much longer look at how his reign of terror affects the inhabitants of this fictional Maine town.
Yes ok Welcome To Derry It takes place in the same universe as the two films of Item, released in 2017 and 2019 respectively, the story will take place several decades earlier. Brothers Muschietti (responsible for the aforementioned adaptations) produced and wrote the script together with Jason Fuchs of Argylle. Andy Muschietti He was also in charge of directing four episodes.
Recently, the prequel series changed its label to HBO Originals. Among other things, this means that it will now also be broadcast on the HBO (in addition to the streaming service Max) sometime in 2025.
