dFrom July 3 to 9, the Ibero-American Fantastic Film Festival will be held at the Cinemateca in Bogotá, Organized by FantasoLab and Oveja Eléctrica, the festival aims to bring a selection of films and short films to the public.

The event was born from the Ibero-American Fantastic Film Laboratory, which plans to bring together producers and directors with projects in the fantastic genre, including science fiction, fantasy and horror.

“With the intention of strengthening the creation and production of these genres in our region in order to energize cinematography. At the same time, the intention arose to not only bring together professionals but also to be able to convene the general public,” which is why this film festival was born, explains the director of the event, Christian Mejía, to EL TIEMPO.

One of the most anticipated is the Spanish film Justicia Artificial, which arrives with a preview in Colombia. “This film that, with great elegance, hybridizes science fiction and thriller to tell us a unique perspective on AI (artificial intelligence) and politics,” they noted in a press release. In this, the uses and scope of AI are discussed from an ethical and social approach.

“The expectation, as always, is to be able to call people together, for people to go see the films, to enjoy them.. Let it be seen that in Latin America another type of cinema is made, which should not be pigeonholed to aesthetics or themes.“, Mejia said.
