Rosé of BLACKPINK will appear in a special video for Mnet’s upcoming girl group survival show “I-LAND2: N/A”!
Unlike the first season of the Mnet survival show “I-LAND”, which was produced in collaboration with HYBE and gave rise to the male group ENHYPEN in 2020, the upcoming second season will be a collaboration with veteran YG Entertainment producer Teddy and his agency THEBLACKLABEL. In addition to the actor Song Kang who stars in the show as storyteller, Taeyang from BIGBANG, the dancers Monica and Lee Jungas well as producer 24 and VVN will perform as producers and acting directors of “I-LAND2: N/A.”
On March 28, Mnet revealed a new teaser featuring Teddy, 24, and VVN performing the show’s title track, “FINAL LOVE SONG.” Describing it as a song personally produced by THEBLACKLABEL, Teddy stated, “It’s a song that samples ‘The Final Countdown’ and when you listen to it, you will feel the tension, the fierceness and the greatness.”
Music producer VVN also explained the meaning behind the cue song, saying, “When chasing a dream, one cannot afford to love the obstacles one faces, so the cue song is like saying ‘this is my last love song’. those obstacles.” 24 commented: “I think it also fits the feeling of applicants who are challenging the world for the first time. It will be more fun if you listen to it while imagining what kind of group will be born through ‘I-LAND2: N/A’.”
Notably, although not mentioned in the teaser, Mnet has confirmed that BLACKPINK’s Rosé will appear in the song’s performance video and will collaborate with the 24 contestants. However, although Rosé’s performance video will be released on April 4 at 6 pm KST, the music will be available on music platforms on the same day, but only in the 24-contestant version.
