One of the most controversial figures in rock history is Courtney Lovewidow of Kurt Cobainwho never cared much about what public opinion said about her, contrary to what she claims was the case with the former leader of Nirvanasince the Hole vocalist assures that “Kurt wanted to be liked,” but she didn’t, and she always wanted “to be known as a slut.”
Cobain’s death soon caused many fans to direct their hatred even more fiercely towards his former partner, reaching the point that three decades later there are still Who blames her for having a relationship? with the suicide of the grunge idol. But that’s something she doesn’t seem to care too much about.
“Being liked was never my thing”Courtney told Evening Standard. “They said I was disgusting. Yes, I am completely disgusting and I will never apologize for it. I always wanted to be known as a slut. Kurt wanted to be liked, but I didn’t. He could hide behind me, but then I was hated. Then “Kurt died, and the hatred for me reached a whole new level. I hadn’t planned for that.”
Love points to the illustrious figure who inspired this attitude of not wanting to be liked: “I had the ability to be a bitch and I was okay with not being liked. I saw Bob Dylan in “Don’t Look Back” and he didn’t want to be liked and I thought: “Yes, I want to be like that.”
We recently had a new example of this attitude, with Courtney remembering the anecdote from Reading 1992who for years was thought to have been the one who had thrown a used tampon into the public, when the author of the throw was Donita Sparksof L7something that Love applauded, regretting that she had not done it.
