Mr. Damiano Sheperd today ceases to be director of Radio Nacional Bahía Blanca, a position he had assumed in March 2020.

The news was communicated by Sheperd himself on his networks: “At this moment one of the most challenging journalistic experiences that I have had to face ends. I have received the telegram decreeing the termination of the employment relationship with Radio Nacional,” he posted on X.

A graduate in Social Communication and a professor at UPSO, the now former official had also been head of AFSCA (today called Enacom) between December 2013 and January 2016.

A member of Unión por la Patria, his dismissal occurs within the framework of the changes that Javier Milei’s government has been making in the different national organizations.

A particularity in the case of Radio Nacional is that, as indicated to this medium, there will be no replacement in the role of director but the position will be abolished. And, whenever operational decisions have to be made, they will be done from the management of stations in the city of Buenos Aires.

The decision on public radio is part of the process of shrinking state media undertaken by the Milei administration. In this sense, one of the emblematic examples was the closure of the Télam Agency, which materialized at the beginning of last month.
