Bring Me The Horizon has aroused feelings of anger and disappointment in their religious fans, mainly Christians, getting into trouble because of a poster in which the band talks about killing Jesus Christ to inform about one of the concerts they will soon offer in Australia.

The announcement published on April 20 of the concert in which they were going to share the bill in Queensland with Sleep Token, Make Them Suffer and Daine and about the arrival of the second installment of his EP series ‘Post Human’ has been the one who has included this reference to Jesus Christ that has set the networks on fire: “NEX GEN presents [Dreamseeker variant] 2024 OST+ A Post Human Study (phase II). If Jesus Christ comes back, then he kills that bastard 2X. What the hell is wrong with me, dammit? I guess there’s no solution.”

The enormous impact of this message has led to a clash between followers who defend the group, those who claim that they have lost them as fans forever, and those who are surprised that such a comment could attract attention, assuming its atheist nature. of the band Oly Sykes.

“I’m sick, how come everyone just found out that they are atheists? Hasn’t anyone ever listened to their music?” says one of the surprised followers on the networks. Along the same lines we find this message: “Have the Christians in these answers ever listened to BMTH? My favorite BMTH sweatshirt, the one I wear constantly, literally says, “When you die, the only kingdom you will see will be two feet wide and six feet deep.” As if this were new”. And there is no shortage of those who are betting that those who attack the band have not been listening to them for long: “I guess you haven’t been listening to them long, have you? I’m willing to bet that the people attacking BMTH for this statement have never listened to their music, and are only doing it because of their reputation. Media literacy is an issue.”

Another line of opinion is the one that points towards a movement by the band to be on the front line of current events. Among them, one points out that this attitude is out of fashion, ensuring that “The 90s ended a long time ago, this is no longer avant-garde”. Another describes this attack as shameful in this era: “Attacking Christians in 2024 is shameful, and I’m not even a Christian”a third example calls into question the intention of the message: “This kind of thing comes as the most basic provocateur behavior. Because everyone does it now,” and finally comes the ironic: “Say something you’ll be unfairly persecuted for, like Merry Christmas.”

Among those who have defended the band, the user who quotes the Bible with a phrase of Corinthians 5:12 by saying that “Music is my problem, I don’t care about your religion. I’m also sorry on behalf of the snowflake Christians who didn’t read the Bible well,” while another highlights that there should be no surprise in an attack on Jesus from punk or metal: “It’s so funny how Christians listen to punk/metal, but then get offended when they start attacking Jesus. I don’t know what they were expecting.”

On the other hand, there are the most relativistic ones, such as the one who highlights that “If Christians feel so offended by this, they can always forgive the group, I thought that was their thing”or the one who does not understand the combination of atheism and blasphemy: “That doesn’t sound very atheistic. If you really didn’t believe, you wouldn’t blaspheme. What has happened to you to make you so angry with God?”

Finally we find the group of fans angry with the group, who do not hesitate to assure that they say goodbye to them forever, from which they comment: “Tell me how to lose a fanbase without telling me how to lose a fanbase,” direct “I will never listen to them again. Disrespectful, in bad taste, and when he comes back they are going to learn a very hard lesson,” Along the same lines is the message that regrets that it was his “most anticipated album of the year, I listened to the singles on loop practically non-stop. Not anymore. Christ is King”and the one who talks about blocking the band: “Well, I’m going to block them on everything and remove their music from the playlists. Bummer. Also, when Christ returns, you better be ready to bow down because all you’ll feel is fear with that attitude. It’s not going to end well for you”.

Bring Me The Horizon will be protagonists this summer in our country, headlining two of the most important festivals, Resurrection Fest and Mad Cool.
