Latin American Music Awards 2024: All the winners

The title of grand winner of the 2024 Latin American Music Awards went to two artists: Feid and Karol G.

The Colombian superstars took home six awards each. Karol won artist of the year, beating Bad Bunny, Carin León and Peso Pluma, among others. She also won awards for album of the year (Tomorrow will be nice) and song of the year (“TQG”) with Shakira. Although La Bichota was not present, as she is on tour in Latin America, Feid was there, who performed alongside Farruko and Jay Wheeler in a special tribute to Yandel.

It was a special night for Yandel who received one of the three special awards at the gala. The Puerto Rican hitmaker was honored with the Latin AMA Pioneer Award. In his emotional speech, he thanked other artists who have collaborated with him along the way. “Thank you to my work team and to each of the artists and colleagues who have collaborated with me throughout this time, throughout this journey of music,” he said. “Among them, my companion in many battles, my brother Wisin, I love you with all my heart, my brother.” The other two special awards went to Ricardo Montaner and Banda MS, each recognized with the Latin AMA Legacy Award.

The first prize of the night went to Peso Pluma, for best regional Mexican album for its historic LP Genesis. “I just want to thank you for all the love you have shown to corridos, the love you have shown me,” the Mexican star said on stage. “Thank you to those who make this possible, especially to you my fans because you have made this wave of corridos even bigger.”

Only a few awards were handed out throughout the three-hour show, which was instead packed with musical performances. Among those who did go up to collect awards were Feid, the first to be chosen artist of the year in streaming, and Peso returned with Eslabon Armado to accept the Latin AMA for best collaboration in regional Mexican (“She dances alone”). Carin León also took the stage not only to premiere her song “When life is a drink,” but to receive the award for best regional Mexican artist.

The evening’s performances included several premieres. Marc Anthony sang “Ale Ale”, from his new album Move. Country singer Jennifer Nettles joined singer-songwriter Noel Schajris for the world premiere of “Love’s Still Here” from her upcoming bilingual album.

Becky G, Thalia, Alejandra Espinoza and Carlos Ponce co-hosted the awards ceremony, which was presented in a mix of English and Spanish, with the hosts and presenters literally speaking half Spanish and half English at the same time. For some it was natural, for others not so much and, at times, it sounded uncomfortable.
