There are songs that are so important to their creators that they end up marking a before and after in their lives. That’s what happened to Pearl Jamas indicated by himself Eddie Vedder. It should be remembered that the beginnings of the grunge icon band were not entirely happy.

Some time later, the vocalist sent them a tape with a demo of three tracks: “Alive”, “Once” and “Black”, which ended up being part of HavePearl Jam’s debut album that became a total success.
Vedder’s affection for those songs has continued through the years. When Carrie Brownstein asked him about the works of the Seattle group that he is proud of, he did not hesitate to answer: “There were three songs on the tape. I think ‘Alive’ was one of them, and ‘Black’ and I think ‘Once’ the other. ‘Alive’ and ‘Black’ are the same as they were then. And they’re kind of cool.”.
