PHIL DEMMEL says KERRY KING’s ‘jerk’ reputation is undeserved: ‘He’s a good guy’

On a recent episode of the “Talk Louder” podcast, hosted by veteran music journalist “Metal Dave” Glessner and hard rock/metal vocalist Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS), Phil Demmel spoke about his working relationship with Kerry King in his solo project.

The 57-year-old San Francisco Bay Area-based musician, who previously played with MACHINE HEAD and VIO-LENCE, said (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):

«Kerry has a bad reputation for being a fucking idiot, a fucking idiot. And he is not. He’s a good guy, he’s an empathetic guy. He’s a guy who cares about things. He’s not like he’s a big-headed idiot and Blah, blah, blah. He just has no filter, he’s very clear with what he wants, and that’s why he says, ‘No, I don’t like that, or ‘I can’t do this because, blah, blah, blah.’ I wish people understood that about other people. It’s not that he’s a fucking… well, maybe he could consider himself an idiot, but that’s not his intention. I will not lie.'”

The group of King is completed with the singer Mark Oseguedathe guitarist Phil Demmelthe drummer Paul Bostaph and the bassist Kyle Sanders.

Kerry King will release his debut solo album “From Hell I Rise” on May 17 through Reigning Phoenix Music.
