Radio María is already present in 83 countries and has just completed 25 years in Spain, breaking audience and territorial coverage records. “Wherever you go, catch Radio María,” its listeners often repeat. But the “Virgin station” wants to go even further, and that is why every year it launches its “Mariathon», a kind of solidarity marathon among all the Radio Marías in the world that seeks to collect donations to support stations in developing countries.

From today until next Tuesday, Radio María España will broadcast special programming aimed at promoting generosity of all your listeners. And the “Virgin station” is maintained solely and exclusively with donations, since it does not accept advertising of any kind.

This year, Radio María España has set the objective of its Mariathon to help new stations from countries in Africa (in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique and Equatorial Guinea); in Asia (Iraq, the Holy Land and Sri Lanka), and in Portugal.

These are the objectives of Mariathon 2024:

  • Mozambique: €70,000 to continue the transformation of the Tete diocesan radio station into RM.
  • Congo: €80,000 to complete the activation of the frequencies granted throughout the country.
  • Burundi: €130,000 for a new headquarters and for Radio María to begin in the diocese of Mongomo.
  • Iraq: €100,000 for the rental of two frequencies and one year’s activity.
  • Holy Land: €250,000 to continue the internet broadcast and expand the presence in the territory.
  • Sri Lanka: €100,000 for the launch of Radio María in the country.
  • Portugal: €200,000 for the acquisition of a new frequency in the center of the country, which would reach Fátima.
