Judas Priest bassist Ian Hillhas spoken about the importance of “patience and persistence” in the music industry.

In a new interview with Metal Oda (via Ultimate Guitar), Ian Hill has been asked what advice he would give to a younger version of himself, the same one starting his legendary career 50 years ago.

“Actually it’s more about patience and perseverance than anything. Don’t stop trying.”.

And when asked about the title of his new album, ‘Invincible Shield’, Hill insists that his previous comments have a lot to do with it: “A lot of things have been thrown at us over the years. People have been trying to kill heavy metal for 35 or 40 years, so it’s always been a fight against the system, you know what I mean”.

50 years of heavy metal

In the last 50 years, Judas Priest He has sold more than 50 million records worldwide and has headlined on the biggest stages on the planet. With the evolution of their music and live performances came a powerful unique identity, an aspect that has defined the group and influenced future generations of metal bands around the world. With each passing year, the legend of Judas Priest continues to grow; in 2022 they were included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and completed a rescheduled sold-out world tour in support of their 50th anniversary.

‘Invincible Shield’ is the 19th album by Judas Priest. Since their last release, ‘Firepower‘, it has already rained, since it came out in 2018. That album, at least according to Rob Halford, could have been the last of the group’s career, but the result and the sensations were so good that they pushed the English to prepare new material .
