The iconic guitarist of Slayer, Kerry Kingwho recently released his first solo album, ‘From Hell I Rise’he already showed us that he was not one of those who keep things quiet charge against a disk of the band he shared with Tom Araya. In this sense, he has also explained what makes him most furious today, a discontent that he expressed in the following way: “I’m sure the Earth can’t wait to get rid of us”.

In an interview with Heavy Consequence, King He confessed some of the things that unnerve him today and admitted that everyday life has become his greatest muse when composing, with one human trait in particular that is in short supply in modern times: “People are an idiotic species and I’m sure the Earth can’t wait to get rid of us, but it’s about simple things like being polite. It is not difficult to be polite. If I can be educated, you can be polite too, and a lot of people aren’t. There is my number one reason for anger. That’s the beginning of any song, and from there it just keeps increasing.”.

All followers of Slayer they know that King He has never bitten his tongue when it comes to criticize religion in their songs. As a starting point for this resentment, the guitarist recalled that moment when his parents asked him if he wanted to go to Sunday school (ndr: educational structure that is responsible for teaching children the Bible and doctrine in evangelical or Protestant churches).

These were his words: “I went to Sunday school for about a week. So I went to my parents and said, “I don’t think I want to go to this anymore.” Even that kid knew it was all a bunch of dog shit”.

Subsequently, King focused on organized religion and its overlooked problems, something he compared to how the former US president’s infractions are often viewed, donald trump: “It’s like politics today. What is said in the press disappears in 48 hours. All the things that Donald Trump did as president, I remember seeing on the news how many lies he had told in four years, and like 36 hours later, it’s like it never happened. That’s basically religion. You hear about all those priests around the world convicted of sexual assault or inappropriate conduct with minors, and one day later, it’s all gone. But I remember that shit and that’s fueled my lyrics for the last 40 years. So thanks to religion for keeping me busy”.

Finally we will only be able to enjoy a single performance this year by Kerry King with his current project in our country, which will take place on the stage of Resurrection Festbehind the cancellation of concerts in Barcelona and Madrid due to logistical problems.
