Charli xcx has released the long-awaited remix of ‘girl, so confusing’ with Lorde, titled in true Charli style: ‘The girl, so confusing version with lorde’. In the new version, both divas have a conversation with each other about their relationship over the years, and it goes deeper than we all expected.
Since the release of the original song, there has been a lot of speculation that it was directed at Lorde, and this remix is practically a confirmation of that. “Honestly, I was speechless / When I woke up to your voice note / You told me how you felt / We’re going to fix it on the remix,” says Lorde as she begins her explosive verse and imitates Charli’s style perfectly.
Among other revelations, Lorde confesses that she has been “at war” with her body for the last two years and that she has been “caught in hate” for Charli. However, she also admits that “I didn’t think for a second that my voice was in your head.” The verse, as tender as it is cunty, ends with both singers shaking hands: “I forgot that behind the icon there is still a little girl from Essex.”
There are also rumors of the upcoming release of a third version of ‘BRAT’, only remixes, based on some posters in the album’s minimalist style that simply read “there are three” on a white background.
