The heavy metal lovers side of Metallica they wore during the festival celebration Power Tripenjoying the performances of fellow posters to the fullest like Judas Priesthas come to the fore again during the performance last June 26th of the black riders in the Norwegian Tons of Rock Festival Oslowhere a historical protagonist of the genre such as Brian Tatler He was invited to join the band in performing the version of “Am I Evil?”which had ceased to be part of Metallica’s repertoires in recent years.

The classic of diamond head sounded again at the hands of Metallica including one of its creators, the guitarist who is currently part of the ranks of saxon and who was the founder of the legendary authors of an entire heavy metal anthem, published on the album ‘Lightning to the Nations’, from 1980, Diamond Head’s first album.

The coincidence of Saxon and Metallica on the festival poster was taken advantage of by the San Francisco band to once again count on the company of the historic guitarist in the interpretation of his famous version, which had not been part of the band’s setlist since 2022, and which had only been played eleven times since 2011, when it was one of the regular songs in the repertoire. On this occasion, “Am I Evil?” was the ninth of the fifteen songs that Metallica offered in their performance, with “Whiplash” as start and “Master of Puppets” as a grand finale.

“I was very flattered that Metallica had covered one of my songs,” commented in 2018 Tatler to Loudwire. “I was really impressed with how faithful they were to the song and the arrangements, even down to the guitar solo. It was a very faithful version, but with a harder sound and more aggressive vocals. It has since appeared on 18 different Metallica releases.”

This was Metallica’s setlist last June 26 at Tons of Rock Festival:

02. “Creeping Death”
