2PM’s Taecyeon to star alongside Isomura Hayato in a new Japanese Netflix series!
On June 28, Taecyeon’s agency 51K announced, “Ok Taecyeon will be appearing in the Japanese Netflix series ‘Soul Mate,’ which is currently in the midst of production with the goal of premiering sometime next year.”
“Ok Taecyeon will play the role of Korean boxer Hwang Johan,” they continued, “and will greet fans not only in Japan but around the world.” [a través de este nuevo drama]”.
Written and directed by Hashizume Shunki, “Soul Mate” will tell a love story between two men that spans 10 years and traverses the cities of Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo. Isomura Hayato will play Ryu, a man who left everything behind in Japan, while Taecyeon will play Johan, a boxer who has not tended to his emotional wounds. After Johan saves Ryu’s life in a foreign church, the two men’s chance meeting ends up changing them both forever as they gradually learn about the meaning of life and love.
Taecyeon commented, “I’m very happy to appear on ‘Soul Mate.’ Since there were so many types of characters and genres that I hadn’t tried yet, I wanted to slowly broaden my spectrum.” [como actor] and discover new facets of myself, and right then I got the offer to star in ‘Soul Mate.’”
“While reading the script, I was intrigued by Hwang Johan’s character, and even after finishing the script, Johan’s inner pain and struggles stayed with me for a long time, which is why I chose the project. Even while filming, I’m still sticking to the diet and boxing training I started before filming; that’s how hard I’m working to portray Johan’s character truthfully, so I hope viewers will look forward to the drama as well.”
Currently, “Soul Mate” is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
