Houston Texas. – A huge alligator was found walking near Glenn Lakes Lane and Masters Lane streets in a Missouri City neighborhood southwest of Houston, according to Timothy Deramus, an animal control expert.

Deramus received a call around 1:30 am on Sunday May 21 asking him to come to the rescue of the animal.

“They said it was about 10 feet, but when I got here I realized it was 11.3 feet. I weigh about 150 pounds and I’m trying to control a 1,200 pound animal… I mean it’s just a huge beast,” Deramus said.

The hunter said they had to battle with the alligator for about three hours and even had to call a tow truck to lift it up and mount it in the back of his truck.

This is how they managed to calm the alligator before relocating it

Before loading him into the vehicle, she had to tape his mouth shut and cover his eyes with a towel to keep him calm.

“It took me about an hour to do that. She kept pulling on the rope and towel, snapping her jaws and whipping her tail at me. An alligator like that could easily rip my leg off,” she said.

He said that once he had it under control, he noticed that he was missing a limb. He believes that perhaps another larger alligator ripped it off in the past and so, feeling threatened, he jumped out of the water to get away.

“I’ll take him to Gator Country Rescue Park in the morning,” he said.

A Missouri City resident found the alligator

Gregg Cornelius, a resident of the sector who arrived at his house observed the huge animal and immediately called 911.

“I was walking in the middle of the street…every time I see them around here. I had one in my pool about two weeks ago,” Cornelius said.

This neighbor has never known alligators to attack pets, but he said everyone in his community walks their animals on a leash.

“There have been no attacks yet, but everyone is watching,” he added.
