A conversation about women in the arts, their goals, challenges and vision of the present and the future, took place today at the House of the Young Creator in Bayamo, as part of the Song to the Father event.

Invited to the debate were Yamisleidis Reyes Beltrán, artistic director and newly elected president of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the province, actresses Lays Almenares Hechavarría and Nara Virelles, and Rosalba Pérez Oliva, master in community cultural development.

At the meeting, sponsored by the Hermanos Saíz Association, they reflected on the new challenges faced by women within artistic creation on the Island and the complexities they face in daily life, before an audience made up of members of the TocAshé project and the theater group GIA (Group of Art Instructors); as well as young puppeteers and troubadours from the Granma territory.

In addition, the book was presented Anthology of current Argentine poetrywhich includes a sample of the work of 12 significant poets of literature in that country.

The Song to the Father event, which ends this April 18, pays tribute to Carlos Manuel de Céspedes on the 205th anniversary of his birth, and to do so it has brought together several musicians and writers from the country.
