Manzana presented this Tuesday the new versions of their iPad tabletsa device designed for productivity and design tasks that arrives renewed in two versions: the iPad Air and the iPad Pro. During the event, the brand highlighted the new screen technology incorporated in the Pro, as well as the improved chips for running Artificial Intelligence (AI) functions and a new Apple Pencil.

The highlight of the presentation was the new iPad Pro and its design, which was promoted as Apple’s thinnest to date. It has a thickness of 5.3 millimeters in its 11-inch version, and 5.1 mm in the 13-inch version, which also arrives as a new proposal with a larger screen size than in the previous edition.

In addition to presenting larger dimensions, the screen is also built with Oled technology – Apple presented it as “Tandem OLED” – which, according to the brand, offers brighter colors and maintains good viewing angles.

On a technical level, the panel has a double layer that offers greater details in the images, even in shadowed or dark areas.

M4 chip

For this version of the iPad Apple introduced its new M4 processorwhich in addition to improving general performance that was already notable, adds processing capabilities optimized for AI.

In the presentation they emphasized that this chip will allow, for example, carrying out more demanding video and image edits in the Final Cut Pro program, as well as graphics editing projects in the Procreate application.

All this will be processed by its 10 cores, along with the same amount dedicated to the GPU. Its manufacture, they pointed out, was done in a 3 nanometer lithography.

Apple also highlighted that it is a “tremendously powerful chip for AI.” Tim Millet, Apple’s vice president of platform architecture, gave an example of this by showing that users could isolate the subject of a 4K video and remove the background with just a tap in Final Cut Pro.

The M4 chip, Apple said, is “more powerful than any neural processing unit in any current AI PC.” It represents an improvement over the M2 chips that powered the last generation of iPads, and the M3s built into the current generation of MacBook laptops.

Renewed accessories

The event could not be missing, in addition to the iPads, the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard renewals.

In the case of the Pencil Pro –which sold separately at USD 129–, the company improved the haptic response that occurs when pressing or double-tapping, and also added a function that allows users to display a menu on the screen by pressing on both sides of the device’s body. You can also change the thickness and type of the path by rotating it, among other functions.

The Magic Keyboard received important modifications compared to its previous version. The body is now made of aluminum and the trackpad has increased in size, to offer a user experience more similar to that of MacBook keyboards. Additionally, a new row of function keys was included at the top.

He The price of the keyboard is USD 299 for the 11-inch version and USD 349 for the 13-inch version.

Prices

With a 256 GB base storage, the iPad Pro can be purchased from USD 999which is the price of the version with the smallest screen. For the 13-inch, the price starts at USD 1,299 and increases as the internal memory increases, which can be 512 GB, 1 or 2 TB.

The iPad Air, meanwhile, is available in four colors and with an M2 chip. The 11-inch version costs USD 599, while the 13-inch version goes up to USD 799, both with a base storage of 128 GB that can be expanded up to 1 TB.

Orders for the new iPad can now be placed starting this Tuesday on Apple’s official website, and from May 15 they can also be purchased in physical stores.
