This Tuesday, the senator Fabiola Campillairequested the resignation of the commander in chief of the Army, Javier Iturriagafollowing the death of the young conscript Franco Vargas in the Putre regiment and the contradictory versions that have been given by the institution.

In her role as president of the Human rights commissionCampillai made his defense prior to the meeting he held this afternoon with the relatives of the deceased soldier, and the parents of the other affected conscripts from the same brigade, and who requested his discharge after the tragedy.

“Here we are not only asking for the dismissal of the people who are involved, here as a senator, as president of the Human Rights Commission, I ask for the dismissal of the commander in chief of the Army. He is the one who has to leave because he has not known how to lead his Army”he declared.
