The La Modelo prison in Bogotá made headlines full of violence. The murder of the director of this penitentiary center, one of the most important in the country, It became a tragic and inexplicable event and, as unusual as it may seem, the person responsible for the crime was inside the same prison.
The paradox is that it is not the only case. The Prosecutor’s Office achieved the indictment and security measure against a so-called “pen” who, from La Modelo prison, would be ordering murders in the country’s capital. This was established thanks to an investigation that revealed a criminal act in the town of Engativá.
The so-called “pen” ordered the murder of a man who had recently been released from the same prison and who, supposedly, worked with the criminal leader inside the prison, but something, on the outside, turned him into an enemy. As if he were a powerful boss, he hired a group of hitmen who drew up a plan to end the life of the future victim.
“Since he trusted you, because he had worked for you inside the penitentiary center where you are currently held, promising you 500,000 pesos in cash, some Tussi tickets and a pistol-type firearm, so that you would be mounted and so Cristhian could do you a job, which was to take the life of a former partner who was nicknamed ‘Eyes’, you sent all this to him via WhatsApp,” the prosecutor explained during the hearings.
“He gets out of the vehicle where he came with his romantic partner and his friends; Distrustful, he approaches the vehicle and observes 5 subjects, and one of them was hooded, who tells him to get into the vehicle, to which he does not agree, and “It is better to propose that with the cars moving the agreement be delivered,” said the prosecutor during the hearings for the charging of charges.
As a result of that chase and a shootout, the person who was killed was not exactly the one sentenced for the so-called “pen.” The victims were a woman and the driver of the other vehicle. They received several gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The man threatened by the “feather” managed to save himself from the attack.
The case for the murder of these two people, ordered by a prisoner from La Modelo prison, becomes an unusual event, which is added precisely to the brutal crime against the director of that same detention center and which warns of a very complex situation, which shows the critical situation in the control and management of people deprived of their liberty.
