A passenger bus ran over health personnel and several injured people who were being treated after a motorcycle accident on the highway that connects the cities of Santo Domingo de los Colorados and Esmeraldas, in a coastal area of Ecuador.
According to digital media reports, the transport bus apparently did not notice that assistance and the injured were on the side of the road.
Information disseminated through social networks, as well as Ecuadorian media such as Primicias, indicate that two people died after the second accident.
According to videos on social networks, several people had suffered an accident when they were traveling through the place on motorcycles, for which they had requested assistance from emergency assistance entities.
An ambulance with medical personnel had arrived at the scene and removed the injured to a section of the roadside to provide first aid, when the bus hit them after not realizing that the people were there when exiting a curve.
The bus even hit the ambulance that had arrived at the scene and its driver was detained for investigations, according to sources.
