Pulsar Awards 2024: Mon Laferte, Los Bunkers and Maestro Valentín Trujillo starred in the great night of Chilean music

This Thursday, June 6, Chilean music wrote a new page in its history, with the tenth Pulsar Awards ceremony, the highest recognition that local creators can receive for their musical works, and which this time had among its great protagonists to figures like Mon Laferte, Los Bunkers, Cancamusa, Santaferia and Chini.PNGwho raised some of the main statuettes in the event organized by SCD and broadcast by TVN.

The day started around 8:30 p.m., through the station’s digital platforms and the Bío-Bío radio signal, where the first 11 statuettes were delivered. Then, at 10:30 p.m., Eduardo Fuentes began the central ceremony, with a performance by Joe Vasconcellos opening the fires of the event. The renowned musician showed off his repertoire with some of his greatest hits, including “Mágico” and “Ciudad treicionera”, which made a packed studio dance.

After that, the expected announcements of winners immediately took place, with the opening of envelopes by music and entertainment figures such as Dënver, Gonzalo Yáñez, Princesa Alba, Pancho Molina, Millaray Viera, Sigrid Alegría, Diego Urrutia, Gino Mella, Jairo Vera and Mario Mutis of Los Jaivas, among others.

The first call of the night to receive the long-awaited ÜL (awards statuette) was for Chini.PNG, who won the Best Rock Artist category thanks to his album “Polux’s Day Off.” Then, the turn was for the Commotion Banda group that after 10 versions, once again won the trophy, this time in the Best Tropical and Ranchera Music Artist section, for their album “Infierno Carnaval”.

Camila Vaccaro in Best Singer-songwriter, Asia Minor as Best New Artist, The Brigida Orchestra as Best Urban Music Artist, and Juan Antonio “Chicoria” Sánchez as Best Roots Music Artist, were other winners, in an evening that also saw the coronation of Cancamusa as Best Pop Artist and Mon Laferte in Album of the Year, thanks to his applauded album “Autopoietica”.

In Song of the Year, meanwhile, The bunkers They won their first Pulsar Award thanks to “Rey”, the single from their album “Noviembre” with which they sealed the long-awaited return of the band. On the other hand, the award for the Most Played Song on Chilean Radios, presented by SCD, fell into the hands of Santaferia thanks to his song “May you do well”, in collaboration with Zúmbale Primo. Along with those awards, there was a special one: The Award for the Promotion and Dissemination of Musica distinction that this time was awarded to the outstanding national pianist Valentin Trujillo.

After the delivery, the president of the Chilean Society of Musical Authors and Performers (SCD), Rodrigo Osorio, assured that “we are left with the best feelings after these Pulsar 2024 Awards, because we confirm that this is not only the most important award in Chilean music, but also an instance that energizes our scene, unites us and strengthens us. Recognizing ourselves does us good, and this time we were able to distinguish highly popular artists like Los Bunkers and Mon Laferte, indie references like Chini.png, cumbia historical figures like Banda Conmoción and many more artists. Our industry already sees the Pulsar as an unavoidable milestone, so in the future we will continue to promote this award with more strength and more desire.”

In the meantime, the audience witnessed unprecedented musical performances starring a diverse range of artists, made up of Nicole, Joe Vasconcellos, Américo, Catalina y las Bordonas de Oro, Paula Rivas, Young Cister, Kidd Voodoo, DrefQuila, Easykid and Álex Anwandter, who were distributed in five blocks. Among these, a tribute to Cecilia “La Incomparable” and a long-awaited meeting of urban music with hers “Fantastic Four” stood out, in addition to different collaborations.
