“I believe that Russia is proposing a variant that will truly put an end to the war in Ukraine. That is, we call for turning a tragic page in history,” the Russian president said in statements to the press.
In this way, Putin ruled out a truce or a freeze in the conflict and made his new proposal days before the Peace Summit in Switzerland, organized by Ukraine, an event to which the Russian government was not invited and which will include the presence of world leaders.
