Leaders congratulate Ramaphosa on his re-election as president of South Africa

Heads of State and Government from around the world issued congratulations to Cyril Ramaphosa, who was elected by Parliament for a second term as President of the Republic of South Africa.

Ramaphosa, 71 years old and current ruler of the African country since 2018, will be sworn in next Wednesday for a second five-year term.

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, published a message on his account on the social network ”.

“We will continue to strengthen the deep friendship and solidarity between our people and governments,” said the ruler of the largest of the Antilles.

The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, also published a message to welcome the reelection “at the head of the People and Government of Heroic Southern Africa.”

“Admired, as always, at the great History of Heroism and Nobility of your People and your Leaders, we wish you and all the South African Brothers the best in this New Period of Government,” the text indicated.

Ortega wished, above all, “more success in the Struggles, which belong to everyone, for Peace, Justice and more progress against Poverty that the imperialists, colonialists and slave owners who oppressed our People have inherited from us.”

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, after sending a congratulatory message to Ramaphosa, highlighted the South African leader’s contribution to the development of strategic partnership relations between both nations.

“We highly appreciate your personal contribution to the development of strategic partnership relations between our countries, as well as to the productive interaction between Russia and South Africa within the UN, BRICS, G20 and other multilateral structures,” Putin said in his message.

The president of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, also congratulated the president of South Africa on his re-election.

“I express my sincere congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa on his re-election as head of state following the general elections of the Republic of South Africa,” Mahamat declared on his X social network account.

“I look forward to continuing to work with you on our shared continental agenda, of which you have been a strong defender,” he added in his message.

The rulers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi; from Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan; from Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye; Comoros, Azali Assoumani; Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba; and Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, also joined in congratulating Ramaphosa and expressed their desire to work together.
