Dissidents of the structure Jaime Martínez of the so-called Central General Staff (EMC) would be responsible for attack against the father of Vice President Francia Márquez, Sigifredo Márquez Trujillo, whose vehicle was attacked this Sunday while he was traveling with a younger in rural area of Jamundí, Cauca.
This was confirmed by the General Jorge Urquijo, commander of the Police Region Four –which covers Nariño, Cauca and Valle–, who assured that the institution is offering a reward of up to $100 million for information that leads to the capture of those responsible.
“In this rural area commit a crime, the Jaime Martínez of the Central General Staff. All hypotheses indicate that they were the actors in this event. There are two bandits: alias Ostin and Jhona Brainer, who are committing crimes specifically in this sector and towards them are directed our investigative and operational capabilities”said the uniformed man in dialogue with Blu Radio.

According to General Urquijo, the attack was perpetrated on the 3:00 in the afternoon when four individuals on two motorcycles gave a stop sign to the vehicle in which the vice president’s father was mobilized.
“The driver and an official from the UNP (National Protection Unit) make a very professional maneuver and evade this stop, “so these people shoot at the vehicle four times,” added the general, specifying that they are reviewing their judicial activities through spoken portraits and human sources to find the whereabouts of those responsible.
The vehicle in which Sigifredo Márquez was traveling was attacked with gunshots. According to preliminary versions, the truck was hit at least four times. After the attack, the vice president’s father and the minor were received at the Robles Police substation.

“Attacks against the civilian population are a flagrant violation of international rights and human rights. It is unacceptable that the armed groups operating in the area continue using disproportionate violence and terror as tools of war”claimed the Vice Presidency.

“My heart hurts that just on this day, they attacked my father. I inform that my father, along with my 6-year-old nephew and the two protection men, suffered an attack in the via Suárez-Cali, near Timba, Fortunately, they emerged unharmed from the attack and are fine,” reported Vice President Francia Márquez.
The senior official expressed concern about the security in Cauca and Valle del Cauca, particularly in the municipality of Suárez and the township of La Tomaas well as for the safety of your community and your family.
Therefore, he requested the Prosecutor’s Office open relevant investigations to clarify these facts. Furthermore, he asked the Ministry of Defense take the necessary measures to strengthen the presence of the Military and Police Forces, which contribute to guaranteeing security in Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
“In these difficult times I call on all of Colombia to join the efforts that are necessary to lead our society to peace. If we work in unity we can turn this page of pain and violence,” said Vice President Márquez.
