Carlos Pizarro’s hat is recognized as Cultural Heritage of the Nation

He Ministry of Cultures, through resolution 218 of June 17, 2024recognized the hat of the M-19 leader, Carlos Pizarro as Cultural Heritage of the Nationin order to contribute to the construction of peace in the country.

“Carlos Pizarro’s hat is part of the cultural heritage of the Nationfor its representation of peace for Colombia,” says the considering part of the document.

The hat unveiling event was led by by President Gustavo Petro at the Casa de Nariño.

“This hat is a symbol of peace. Doubtless. And it should stay here. It will be heritage. This is a heritage of love. So it is handed over to the Colombian people, who are its owners.“said the head of state during the event.

And it is precisely, during his official visit to Sweden, President Petro received the hat from the ‘Bolívar Officers’, a group of M-19 exiles based in that country, who had it guarded for decades in a safe. on the Scandinavian Peninsula, in northern Europe.

According to information from the Presidency, The hat is 35.5 centimeters long, 30 centimeters wide and 8.5 centimeters high.

The piece, depending on the resolution, It was woven in natural and synthetic fibers with internal support, brown leather morocco.

The hat is beige with a black outer band.
