BEIJING, June 28. — Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, exchanged congratulations this Friday on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Xinhua reported.
President Xi highlighted the solid relationship between China and Venezuela, underlining their mutual trust and shared commitment. Since establishing diplomatic relations half a century ago, both countries have worked together to uphold international fairness and justice, as well as protect the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations.
During President Maduro’s state visit to China last September, the elevation of bilateral relations to an all-weather strategic partnership was announced, marking a new era in their cooperation.
China is willing to maintain this traditional friendship and further enrich the strategic partnership with Venezuela, contributing to world peace and joint development. In addition, both leaders seek to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
In his statement, Maduro pointed out that, since diplomatic relations were established between Venezuela and China 50 years ago, bilateral relations have experienced significant progress. In particular, he highlighted the historical importance of creating a solid and lasting strategic partnership between both countries.
Venezuela firmly supports China’s national sovereignty and opposes any attempt to contain the Asian country. In addition, it is willing to actively participate in the implementation of cooperation on the Belt and Road, as well as the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi.
Maduro stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen the friendship between Venezuela and China through greater bilateral cooperation and multilateral coordination. Finally, he expressed confidence that, under Xi’s wise leadership, China will achieve great national rejuvenation.
