TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 kicked off today with a series of announcements that promise to transform the experience of creators and viewers on the platform. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy presented an ambitious roadmap that includes new programs, technical improvements, and collaboration tools. Thus, in the face of the platform’s apparent decline, everything points to a desire to offer a boost that will encourage creators and fans to join the purple platform.

Ambitious changes

Among the most notable new features is the Streamer Achievement Programdesigned to recognise creators who achieve milestones – as the name suggests – that are truly significant in terms of viewing hours. This three-tiered system will reward those who achieve 5, 20 and 250 million hours watched, respectively.

Another interesting initiative is the Creators Club, a program that will facilitate the connection between streamers with similar interests. Initially, two clubs will be launched: DJ’s and IRL, with plans to expand the offering before the end of the year. Members will have access to an exclusive Discord, special events and monthly workshops.

On the technical side, Twitch has announced a Complete redesign of your mobile appfocused on improving the experience of new users and facilitate visits more frequent but shorterso many functions will surely be redesigned. In addition, will implement Stories on the platform, allowing Partners to upload videos of up to 60 seconds, with plans to extend this feature in the near future. This is very exciting, as it is an initiative we have seen on many other platforms before and which has changed the way these applications are used.

Collaboration between streamers the arrival of 4K streaming

Collaboration between streamers will also be simplified with a new feature within Stream Together, allowing creators to easily join other live streams without complex planning.

As for the transmission quality, Twitch has announced the arrival of 4K streaming, along with improvements to automatic coding and configuration. This is part of the initiative of Enhanced Streamingwhich seeks to make the more accessible content and offer greater control to creators about the quality of their video.

Finally, news was presented in the Enhancersa way for the viewers support their favorite streamers with special effects in chat, and the official launch of the DJ Program was announced on August 8, allowing DJs to broadcast most music in a new category dedicated exclusively to this. Will we see the arrival of new content creators focused on music? It is difficult to know, but in this sense we can say that it is looking really good.

These updates reflect Twitch’s commitment to improving the experience for both creators and viewers, adapting to the new trends and needs of its global community. Especially with the shadow of Kick and its potential to end Twitch looming on the horizon.
