If you are one of those who respond “I meshed in Libritos” when asked at home what did the money, in this Newsletter we give you recommendations to easily navigate the Bogotá Book Fair, which goes until May 11. If you are bare, we recommend events and talks to travel one of the most important cultural events in the Colombian capital.
Let’s start with the pavilion of which everyone speaks: 17, of independent publishers. The space shows the variety of the national commitment to the margin of the big stamps: there are more than 30 editorial projects that cover a novel, story, essay, poetry, design and photography. Two groups stand out: diligence and hurricane. The first groups publishers such as Cajumen, Laguna Books, Cohete Comics, Luna Books, among others. The second brings together 21 publishers as an extinct animal, Himpar Editores or Malevo, to mention some.
In this pavilion is also King Naranjo, Frailejón and Zaíno, a new editorial created by graduates of the Master in Literary Creation of the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona. In 17, in addition to the local commitment, you can approach the world of independent publishers from countries such as Spain and Argentina. Some are famous as asteroid, cliff, Nordic, peripheral, eternal cadence and Godot books. As the offer is so wide, it is suggested to talk with the booksellers. This year they launched the Libreros prize for the best book, and rewarded four who can guide him: The roots of the light, of Andrea Beaudoin (fiction); Seven plants, of Diana Obando and Sara Muñoz (Non fiction); Angela Cuarta Sea Road (Child-Young); and Garzón (Illustrated-Comic), by Verónica Ochoa and Alfredo Garzón.
Another recommended is the pavilion of the guest of honor. It is identified not by the flag of Spain, but by a 20 -meter macramé fabric, sewn by local artisans, where the motto can be read in Spanish, the co -official languages and even the Aranés and the Asturian: Spain a culture for peace. Topics such as the memory, wounds of the civil war, Franco and democracy appear not only in the talks, debates and meetings, but in two exhibitions, one over comic and historical memory, and the other of photographs on the common graves of the civil war and the forensic documentation of a common grave in Bogotá. Among the most prominent authors is Javier Cercas, who has just launched God’s madman at the end of the worldabout his trip with Pope Francis.
Among the national literary novelties, the second installment of the library of Colombian writers, edited by Pilar Quintana is highlighted. The author of The dog y The abysses It is one of the great writers of this edition, together with Piedad Bonnett and Laura Restrepo. It is launched too Now and in the time, of Héctor Abad Faciolince, his testimony about the attack in which the journalist Victoria Amelina died in Ukraine; and Enchanted FronteraGiuseppe Caputo’s novel, who will talk on Wednesday with Federico Díaz Granados about the body. And, finally, a couple of jewels of the poet Darío Jaramillo Agudelo, who was honored in this edition of the Filbo: Panaceaa novel that kept unpublished for a decade and Anything but hurryits aphorisms about the trade of writing.
All the programming of talks, meetings and book signatures, on the website of the Filbo.
