A Popular Library Sarmiento advances in the preparations for the 3rd exhibition of intervened books, which will be presented as of June 23 at its facilities located in San Martín 1589, within the framework of the commemoration activities of the Book Day.
The initiative, which summons people of all ages to create artistic works from disuse books using different techniques, with free theme, has open inscriptions until June 13. Those interested in participating can communicate to WhatsApp 2901-617105.
In a dialogue with EDFM Eugenia Di Santo, author of the project and promoter of the reading of the Sarmiento Popular Library, he explained that “we are in the call stage, which we extend to all educational persons and institutions. They receive us very well, many to join for the first time and others that will give continuity to the line of work last year,” he said.
To intervene deteriorated books, broken or with missing leaves, various techniques such as collage, painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving or embroidery are used. As a result, unrepeatable design pieces are generated.
Di Santo remarked that “this playful and artistic proposal, where the deterioration book is transformed into a new artistic work, summons us to be part of a very interesting and mobilizing experience,” and shared that together with the participants, “when we start working, and we ask them to look for a topic that represents them, many people seek to represent something of their history, memories of their childhood, their tastes and interests Introspection where triggers arise for creation, ”he observed.
The promoter said that “from the books we read, we all keep images and memories. This proposal summons us to bring and share them with other people who are also in the process of creation of the intervened books, and the general public during the exhibition”, since “they are memories that return to us, in new, unique and unrepeatable works, which identify us,” said Di Santo.
The 3rd exhibition of intervened books will open on June 23 at the Sarmiento Popular Library. Then from 30, it will be presented at the IPRA Hall; and subsequently will move to other spaces in the city with the aim of expanding its access to the entire community.
