Cancun, Q. Roo.- The McLaren pilot, Oscar Piastri took the victory in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, the podium was completed by Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Charles Leclerc de Ferrari. This is the second consecutive triumph of Australian in Formula 1 and is placed as the new leader of the classification this season, above his partner, Lando Norris.
Verstappen took the lead at the beginning of the race, however, he was penalized for five seconds and could not recover the main position. Further back on the grill, Pierre Gasly de Alpine had a clash with Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull) and both had to leave the street circuit of Corniche from very early.
While Leclerc began to overcome the Mercedes duo (George Russell and Kimi Antonelli), while Lando Norris gave ground to his partner and ended in the fourth position.
With this result, Piastri won his third victory of the campaign and is the new leader of the pilot championship with 99 points, 10 more than his partner, Lando Norris, the third place is for Max Verstappen with 87 units, George Russell and Leclerc complete the top 5, with 73 and 47 points respectively.
McLaren expanded his advantage in the World Cup of Constructors with 188 units, followed by Mercedes with 111 points and Red Bull was left behind with 89. Formula 1 will return until May 4 with the Miami Grand Prix.
