An inmate of the El Abra prison, in Cochabamba, lost his life after being attacked with a knife by another inmate, in a fact that continues under investigation.
The aggressor was immediately identified and transferred to an isolation cell, while judicial measures are managed for relocation in another prison enclosure.
The director of the Special Force for the Fight against Crime (FELCC), Colonel Vanderlay Flores, informed local media that the legal autopsy revealed that the victim died from “hypovolemic shock, pulmonary and cardiac laceration, thoracic trauma penetrating penetrating by a white weapon and polytons.”
According to the report, the attack included at least three or four stabs.
From the Directorate of Penitentiary Regime, the coordinator Miguel Zambrana explained that the corresponding requests before the Court have already been submitted so that the aggressor is transferred.
“We are waiting for the precautionary audience. In case of not obtaining an answer, other mechanisms will be evaluated,” he added.
The first investigations suggest that the crime would have been caused by previous personal conflicts between the two inmates.
While the judicial determination is awaited, the author of the fact remains in isolation under surveillance, as a preventive measure.
The penitentiary and police authorities continue to collect information to clarify the circumstances of the homicide.
