UNITED DOORS VENEZUELA AND human RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS denounced Wednesday The arbitrary arrest and forced disappearance of doctor Omar Vergel and lawyer Merlina Carrero In San Cristóbal, Táchira state.
A Vergel, coordinator of the Táchira Chapter of doctors United, was intercepted by men dressed in black and hooded in front of his house around 4:35 pm, since then his whereabouts are unknown. On the other hand, Crero, Creation of the Citizen Alliance in the region, arrested it under similar circumstances.
«We denounce the disappearance of our partner, Dr. Omar Vergel, activist of the Táchira chapter of our organization. We demand that state security agencies that The reason for your alleged detention is clear to the brevity and the physical and psychological integrity of the colleague is respected, as well as the due process in his case, ”said the organization in X.
Walter Márquez, president of the El Amparo Foundation and formerly to the National Assembly, denounced the arbitrary arrests of Omar Vergel and Merlina Carrero. In a video posted in X, he said:
«They were arrested by hooded state security agencies. They disappeared from the city of San Cristóbal. Therefore, we publicly demand that the Public Ministry, which has to give an immediate response, and the agencies of the Venezuelan State that respond for personal security, life and freedom of these human rights activists what they have done is comply with the Constitution and the laws of the Republic ».
