What has this movie meant for you?
For me it has been almost a turning point for the work that has meant being in a 24 -hour shooting set, for five weeks. I had not faced before having to hold almost every plane of the film. That challenges you a lot and makes you understand the trade and experience of what is a filming, from another totally different point of view. I ever wish it in life to any actress or actor, because you learn a lot of what the collaborative trade that is cinema means. It has been a wonderful opportunity to be in that creative continuity, from the character, all the time. It has been a very important film for me.
Between the novel and the script, how did you approach work?
I started with the script because I had no previous link with the novel. It was very nice to discover how the book had helped many friends travel through a similar grievance process and that also made the book resignify. Although I had that material of the novel and the written script, I really liked being able to enter everything without any condition. In addition, the mother and daughter is such a universal link that, even if you have not gone through the loss of your mother, you will ever pass, or have passed through others. In the end, what the actors do is imagine possibilities, try to do experience there, in the set, every day.

Have you had to confront personal feelings?
It is very difficult to separate, the issue is where you work from. As soon as I read the novel, I empathized a lot with the way of living that duel. I really like that Blanca does it in a very unconventional way, that she does not feel, in a more emotional place, locked at home, but escapes by other more physical, more earthly pathways. That is very easy to judge, but the movie does not. I perfectly understood the despair and the vital impulse that is born when you are close to a death, a situation of mourning or loss, because it is the complementary opposite. It is born almost unintentionally, it is irrational and I have lived it, because I have traveled duels and losses like all, and I have also observed it. I love to observe what happens to me, what happens to the other, to people … and, in the end, they are things that you can include in your work.
Will this also happen is a phrase that applies to your life?
I try, but it is not so easy … sometimes we forget the impermanent quality of life, which is what the movie is going a bit and something that is in the title. I remember that, one day, in the filming, Susi Sánchez, who makes my mother, asked me: “What is the movie, Marina? I replied:” Of death, the duel, of the mother … “. Then, she told me:” Yes, but look at the title. This will also happen. ”
