The City of Buenos Aires announced the official opening of the new viewpoint located at the top of the Obelisk, which will begin receiving visitors on Thursday 1 May, coinciding with the 89th anniversary of the emblematic monument. Registration to participate in guided visits is already enabled.
The viewpoint, recently finished, offers a 360 ° panoramic view from 67.5 meters high that reaches the obelisk dome. Access will be made through a shift system, exclusively for city residents, during the long weekend between Thursday 1 and Sunday, May 4.
The experience has a daily quota of up to 120 people and is subject to telephone confirmation once the registration has been done. For security reasons, the activity is not recommended for people with reduced mobility, vertigo or fear of heights.
The project was developed by the Ministry of Public Space and Urban Hygiene with the aim of valueing one of the main icons of the city. The intervention respected the patrimonial nature of the Obelisk, declared a National Historic Monument, and contemplated the installation of a reversible elevator that does not alter the original structure of the building.
With this initiative, Buenos Aires incorporates a new tourist attraction that will allow neighbors and visitors to contemplate the city from a privileged perspective in the heart of the capital.
