The Emergency Councilor of the City of Lorca, José Martínez, has announced that the State Meteorology Agency (AEMET) has activated the yellow level by rains and storms in the northeast of the Region of Murcia, starting this afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., with an estimate of probability of rain between 40% and 70% and accumulated precipitation in an hour of 15 mm.
It will be tomorrow, May 8, starting at 12:00 and until 10:00 p.m., when the yellow alert for rains and storms expands its geographical field of condition, according to the Aemet, extending to the Altiplano, Northwest, Vega del Segura, Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca and Águilas, with a precipitation forecast accumulated in a 15 mm hour. With a probability between 40% and 70%, being able to be accompanied by hail.
Martínez, who has specified that “the yellow notice for storms indicates that in the affected warning zone strong storms are foreseen. Given the character of these phenomena there is the possibility that superior intensity storms can occur in a timely manner. In this sense, emergency services are alert to prevent any eventuality or incidence that could be caused by the expected rainfall.”
And he recalled that, among the prevention measures, are: withdraw from the outside of the house those objects that can be dragged by the water; periodically review roofs, sewers and water drops; Do not park vehicles or camp in dry channels, or at the edge of rivers, to avoid being surprised by a sudden flooding of water or a flood.
Avoid circulating on the road, and if you have to travel, try to circulate, preferably, on main roads and highways. On the other hand, if it is in the field, you have to get away from the rivers, torrents and low areas of slopes and hills, avoiding, crossing flooded fords.
If you are in your vehicle, you should not park in places that can be flooded, and when you circulate, you do not cross flooded places; Attention should be paid to land, sinks or sinks; You should know where the highest places are and how to get to them quickly.
