Within the framework of the replacement process of animal traction vehicles (VTA), the Government of Quindío, through the Ministry of Agriculture, participated on Tuesday in a day of animal welfare developed in the municipality of Circasia. The activity was accompanied by the Animal Welfare Program (Pyba) team, which provided comprehensive attention to the horses involved in the process.
During the day, deworming, medical assessment procedures, laboratory samples and installation of horses identification microchips were carried out, ensuring their traceability and adequate state of health.
The municipality of Circasia advances in the replacement of animal traction vehicles with own resources, by delivering motorcycle to 11 previously censored equine tutors. In that sense, the municipal administration requested the inter -institutional articulation to strengthen the process and guarantee decent and responsible treatment towards animals.
Currently, in Quindío there are still three municipalities where animal traction vehicles are maintained. From the Departmental Administration, the commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner with the mayorships to move towards the elimination of this practice is reiterated, promoting more safe and human transport alternatives, and ensuring the well -being of work animals.
