Sometimes, what seems like a catastrophe ends up being the best play of fate. That happened to Dave Mustaine, the explosive frontman of Megadeth, who continues to remember with a mixture of nostalgia, humor and a touch of resentment, the day they threw him out of Metallica. Yes, they threw it. And not everyone gets up after something like that, but he did it, and how.

In talk with the journalist Steve Rosen, Mustaine released several truths without filter. “They threw me out of my own damn band”he said with a laugh. But what at the time felt like a stab, ended up being the push he needed to create his own musical empire. Thus he was born Megadethand with her songs that are today metal history as ‘Hangar 18’, ‘has everyone’ O ‘Symphony of Destruction’.
It was not easy to start from scratch. Dave tells it clear: “Many times there are people who throw themselves with who you used to touch. That’s a bit pathetic.” Finding musicians, forming a band with its own identity and dealing with comparisons was a constant challenge. But he didn’t shrink. “Adversity has been quite hard, but it has made me more determined,” he confessed. And he added with street wisdom: “The forbidden fruit knows sweeter.”

-What is Dave Mustaine’s relationship with Metallica?
His relationship with Metallica has been a roller coaster. Although the years passed and time healed part of the wound, something always remains. “The funny thing is that now I love those boys. Now we are friends. What bothers me is that sometimes I see that people get against Kirk and ‘Dave with the horns’ …”. But you also notice that there is inner peace: “Come on, man, he is a good guitarist. It is probably much better than whoever you are tweeting.”
And if I could talk to that young, disheveled and furious Dave, I would say something very different: “Do you know what? Water. Everything is going better.” Because yes, he thought everything had ended but in reality, he was just starting.
