During Covid-19 confinement in 2020, British musician Thom Yorke contacted producer Mark Pritchard requesting material to work. Pritchard sent around 20 demos, to which Yorke added letters, synthesizers and effects, creating a collaboration beyond the vocal. This continuous exchange of digital ideas and files allowed both artists to mold the songs together, with Yorke also involving the production and editing of the themes.
Jonathan Zawada, Australian visual artist, was considered the “Third Member”, who began working in visual art after receiving the instruments of Pritchard, using CGI and artificial intelligence techniques to create surrealist images that complement music. Instead of using Prompts, he programmed the desired results, looking for a contrast between digital and imperfect.
Of collaboration between the three artists arose TALL TALES (2025), a visual and sound project of the productor Mark Pritchardhe compositor Thom Yorke And the visual artist Jonathan Zawada. Synth-pop, prog, Dub and other styles mix music, evoking a musical encounter in a remote place. Zawada creates a modern visual fairy tale with images of nature, technology and dystopic elements. The work explores the relationship between light and darkness, with the brilliant electronics of Pritchard intertwining with Yorke’s songs. It is an experimental visual album that reflects on progress and modern condition.
