KBS’s next drama, “The first Night With the Duke,” shared a look at his first script reading!
“The First Night With The Duke” is a romantic fantasy that tells the story of a common university student whose soul is transferred to a secondary character of a romantic novel and spends the night with the obsessive male protagonist.
The script reading session gathered directors Lee Woong Hee and Kang Soo Yeon, screenwriter Jeon Seon Young and the cast, which included Seohyun from Girls’ Generation, Taecyeon of 2pm, Kwon Han Sol, Seo Bum June, Ji Hye Won and more. With the emotion that flooded the room, the actors quickly immersed themselves in their papers, contributing energy and passion to reading.
Seohyun gave life to his character, Cha Sun Chaek, with an ingenious and casual tone. As a modern university whose soul is transported to a secondary character in a romantic novel set in the Joseon dynasty, Seohyun added simple gestures with agile hands and movements to show the cheerful and energetic personality of his character, causing the journey of the University of generation Z through an unknown era to feel vibrant and fun.
Taecyoon, who plays Yi Beon, a perfect credential character and a distant charm, captured attention with his seriousness and penetrating look. In the scenes with Seohyun, he revealed a more tender side of his character, with his warm looks that contrasted with an indifferent tone. This highlighted Yi Beon’s unexpected depth and complexity.
Kwon Han Sol gave life to the character of Jo Eun Ae, the protagonist of the novel, with a quiet and kind tone, capturing his serene and reflective nature. Seo Bum June, in the role of the second male protagonist, Jung Soo Kyum, contributed a relaxed but warm presence to his role in the love triangle. Ji Hye Won, like the villain do Hwa Sun, offered acute and unpredictable dialogues, injecting a new level of voltage to reading.
After reading the script, Seohyun expressed his enthusiasm: “It is hilarious,” and added: “Every moment is full of incredibly entertaining scenes.”
-Taecyoon also expressed his opinion: “History and relationships are very interesting,” highlighting the key point of drama.
