The price of the electric wholesale market, the so -called ‘pool’, will descend this Sunday to 11 euros the megavatio hour (MWh), a price 32% lower than the one that marked this Saturday. In addition, for ten hours a day, the light will be zero or even negative cost, in an interval that will go from 09.00 to 7:00 p.m., when a value of 3.52 euros/MWh will be recorded.
After giving a historical minimum of -10 euros per megavatio hour (MWh) last Thursday, the minimum of Sunday will be -5.01 euros/MWh, a figure that will be repeated between 2:00 p.m. and 15.00, according to the provisional data of the Iberian energy market operator (OMIE) collected by Europa Press.
However, these negative prices of the wholesale market are not then moved to the receipt of the customers of the regulated rate exactly, since there are fixed costs for the electrical consumer, for tolls, positions and system adjustments.
The maximum price of the day will be registered between 00.00 and 1.00 hours this Sunday, when 36.13 euros/MWh will be reached, while between 9:00 p.m. and 23.00 the 35 euros/MWh will be reached.
Likewise, the ‘Pool’ does not represent exactly the final amount in the price of light for a consumer hosted by the regulated rate, since since 2024 new PVPC calculation method was adopted, which incorporates a medium and long -term price basket to avoid strong oscillations, without losing short -term price references that foster savings and efficient consumption.
Specifically, the proportion of linking with the price of ‘pool’ will be progressively reduced, to incorporate the references of the futures markets, so that they represented 25% in 2024, 40% in this 2025 and will reach 55% from 2026.
