The Junta de Castilla y León said yesterday that the death of a person with oxygen therapy treatment, who used a respirator, “had nothing to do” with the electric blackout recorded on Monday, April 28 at 12.33 am in peninsular Spain. This was transferred by the Minister of Health, Alejandro Vázquez, after carrying out an investigation into this case.
The Board opened an investigation into the death of a person with oxygen therapy to determine if it was due to the electric blackout, since it made a telecare call but when the basic life support arrived, he had already died.
“We have investigated and I can tell you that it is a death that temporarily coincided with the blackout but that there was nothing to do with that blackout,” said the head of Health.
Vázquez began that the open investigations after the death of a person with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ELA) in the community “temporarily coincided with the blackout”, although “it had nothing to do” with the cut of massive light that affected Spain and Portugal for several hours.
