
- With the aim of protecting the Health and well -being of children and young people, the Public Health authorities, Andrea Albagli, and Education, Alejandra Arratia, led a vaccination operation by reinforcing the importance of protecting educational communities against respiratory diseases.
- For the second consecutive year, Mineduc and Minsal coordinated the date of the winter holidays considering viral behavior, anticipating the periods of greater virus circulation.
Within the framework of the Minsal Vaccination and Immunization campaign, the Undersecretary of Education, Alejandra Arratia, and the Undersecretary of Public Health, Andrea Albagli, together with the executive director of the SLEP of the Pino, Pablo Araya, carried out an inoculation operation at the Lyon City school, located in the commune of El Bosque.
The authorities supervised the vaccination process for basic room students and highlighted the importance of strengthening access to vaccines in educational communities, in addition to strengthening recommendations to prevent respiratory diseases within educational establishments.
The Undersecretary of Education, Alejandra Arratiahe thanked the collaboration of the Ministry of Health and pointed out that “as a ministry of education we have the duty to protect the well -being and educational trajectory of children and young people. Therefore, we call on the students to be vaccinated, we have operations available for children from participation to the fifth basic, as well as for teachers and assistants of education. In addition, the influenza vaccine is available for counters and Teachers who work with boys and girls to eighth basic.
For its part, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Andrea AlbagliHe added that “63% of coverage at the national level of influenza protection implies that about 6,300,000 people have already been vaccinated, this is a more advanced coverage than what we had last year on this same date, where there were 49%. This faster progress we have had 2025, responds to the Ministry of Health making the right decision at the beginning of the year to advance its vaccination campaign.”
Meanwhile, the Director of the Lyon City School, Elizabeth Sotothanked the performance of the operation in the educational establishment and added that “this vaccination allows our children to have a better quality of life and protect themselves from diseases, which also allows classes to be regularly and to learn more.”
-Currently, the coverage of the objective group of preschool and school education workers to eighth basic is 84% in influenza. While children aged 6 to 10 are 72% and children from 6 months to 5 years old, 53%.
The Undersecretary Albagli also highlighted the good progress that the vaccination process has had in the commune of El Bosque: “I want to congratulate the municipality of El Bosque because they have one of the most advanced influenza coverage in influenza nationwide with 71%. I also want to congratulate the work of Mayor Manuel Zúñiga and his entire health team,” said the health authority.
Winter holidays
The Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Unit of Analysis of the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, formalized the winter holiday calendar by 2025 by pondering the viral behavior observed in recent years.
This calendar was designed to guarantee the protection of the educational trajectories of children and adolescents who are part of the school system, taking into account the particularities of each region. In this context, in all regions of the country, except Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Magallanes and Aysén, it has been established that the recess will begin on Monday, June 23 and end on Friday, July 4, with the return to classes planned for Monday, July 7.
