Lima (EFE) .- The thirteen workers of the Peruvian Mine of Powerful Gold who were kidnapped and killed in northern Peru had been dead when they were found last Sunday, official sources reported, which detailed that four of the bodies have not yet been identified.
The president of the Board of Prosecutors of the La Libertad region, Luis Guillermo Bringas, informed the RPP station that the workers were not recently killed, but that the event occurred about seven or eight days ago.
“The information that the legist doctor gives me is that the bodies have a more or less death time of approximately seven or eight days, which gives us an idea that these people have not died neither yesterday nor before yesterday,” he said.
“The case is shocking, it is a case of absolute cruelty,” added the prosecutor to indicate that they could confirm this information after necropsy.
PATAZ: Unstable zone for illegal mining
The prosecutor also warned that the province of Pataz, in La Libertad, is an “extremely unstable” area due to the activity of hitmen and illegal mining, elements that have generated a conflict over the undercuts.
He also referred to the creation of a special multidisciplinary team of prosecutors (criminal, organized crime and environmental) that will be in charge of this matter to ensure thorough investigation.
For his part, the director of the Morgue de Trujillo, Jorge Vásquez, told local media that nine of the thirteen bodies have already been delivered to their families, but that four of the victims have not yet been identified.
Vásquez explained that the fingerprints are very affected “due to the spherical (death and detachment of tissues) of the epidermis”, which hinders the identification process.
He said that to achieve identity they will have to do specialized forensic procedures such as a dactyloscopy, which will take two to three months to confirm the data.
This Sunday, the bodies of thirteen workers of the powerful gold mine who had been kidnapped a week ago were found.
