The strategic meeting held on the eve was chaired by the executive director of the Ethiopian company, Frehiwot Tamru, and the senior vice president and director of the regions of southern and eastern Africa of the foreign multinational, Michael Berner, the latter in front of a delegation.
During the debate they analyzed the performance of the first Wallet -based Ethiopia -based visa card and improved remittance services through Visa Direct and Telebirr Remit, launched in August 2024.
They addressed the results of that initiative to date and the growing market potential, especially after recent macroeconomic reforms. They took into account customer opinions about remittance benefits with the aim of continuing to improve them.
The conversations also focused on taking advantage of the strengths of the Telebirr platform of Ethio Telecom in conjunction with the extensive Global Visa Network. In this regard, Tamru highlighted the impressive scope of the application, along with its infrastructure and robust and safe capabilities.
When referring to the success of the previous collaborations, the Visa Dellegation Inc. mentioned the important without exploiting the market, in addition to advocating the introduction of innovative international services and the need to “break the limits.”
The discussion culminated in the commitment of both parties of forming a joint management committee that will explore additional collaboration areas, significantly improve innovative digital financial solutions and financial inclusion, as well as foster a digital society in Ethiopia.
