Moscow (EFE) .- The high three-day fire in Ukraine announced by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, will enter into force this midnight despite kyiv’s rejection, Kremlin reported today.
“Yes, the initiative of the Russian part, by President Putin, is still in force,” said Dmitri Peskov, presidential spokesman, at his daily telephone press conference.
The High Unilateral Fire will govern for 72 hours, until midnight from May 10 to 11, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany in World War II, which will be attended by leaders of about thirty countries.
Peskov condemned the attacks with perpetrated drones in recent days by the Ukrainian army against objectives in several Russian regions, including Moscow.
“The kyiv regime continues to demonstrate its essence, its propensity to terrorist actions,” said Kremlin spokesman after these attacks.
Nine drones that headed to Moscow
Last night, Russian anti -aircraft defenses demolished nine Ukrainian drones that were heading to Moscow, according to the mayor of the Russian capital, Serguéi Sobianin, on his Telegram channel.
Two hours later, the mayor published a new entry informing that they had been demolished “two other drones” that were target Moscow, where airports as well as those of several cities in the center of the country suspended their operations for several hours, for security reasons.
The Russian armed forces are taking all the measures so that the celebrations of the victory take “quietly, stable and peaceful,” according to the authorities.
This Wednesday the Russian leader meets with the presidents of Venezuela and Cuba; Tomorrow he will receive the Chinese leader and on Friday he will do the same with the president of Brazil and the Slovak Prime Minister.
In addition to rejecting the truce, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, said that kyiv cannot guarantee the safety of leaders traveling to Moscow to meet with Putin.
Although the White House said at first that it did not support the provisional fire, but a cessation of durable hostilities, US President Donald Trump supported this week the Putin initiative.
