The operation left nine detainees and is part of the offensive against a network linked to drug trafficking with connections in municipal and judicial power
Military officials detected and destroyed a logistics camp used by the so -called Narcoalcaldes network for drug transport to the United States, according to the last news media.
The operation was executed in the La Cañonera sector, Miranda Municipality of the Zulia state, where most of the operational structure of the criminal organization was installed. According to partial information obtained from the Report of the Regional Anti -Drug Intelligence Unit No. 11 (Uria), nine people were arrested during the procedure, allegedly linked to the network.
During the operation, two peñero boat vessels were seized without registration and four outboard engines, used in maritime drug trafficking activities.
The detainees would be linked to the band led by Alias “Pata Largo”, one of the groups indicated as part of the Narcoalcaldes network. Valbuena, who has an arrest warrant since April 9, is sought for crimes such as terrorism, drug trafficking, aggravated smuggling and association to commit crimes, among others.
NARCOALCALDES NETWORK
The Narcoalcaldes network was publicly revealed on March 14 by the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, who reported on the arrest of the mayors of Isla de Toas and the ports of Altagracia, both involved in drug trafficking from Colombia to the United States.
Subsequently, on April 4, Cabello announced the capture of three other mayors, raising to seven the number of officials arrested.
The network also maintained connections with the judicial system
“It is a great mafia. It gives me a lot of sadness that someone who has been elected with the votes of the town ends in these drug trafficking bands,” said Minister Cabello during a balance of the Catatumbo lightning operation, deployed since March in Zulia.
According to official figures, until last week 70 vehicles, 112 engines, two semi -submersible, 50 fast boats and more than 32 thousand kilograms of cocaine were seized. Of that total, 15,393 kilos were incinerated in industrial furnaces located in Lagunillas, Zulia, the National Anti -Drug Superintendence (Sunad) reported.
