According to the inflation report of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP), inflation of the month of April, measured by the variation of the consumer price index (CPI), was 0.4%, lower than the variation of 0.8% observed in the same month of the previous year. There were several products with higher price increases in April.
According to the parent banks, with this result, the accumulated inflation in the year amounts to 3%, above 2.8% of the same period of the year 2024. On the other hand, the year -on -year inflation was 4%, lower than the 4.4% rate recorded in March, and similar to that registered in the same period of the previous year.

Incidents
It should be noted that the fourth month of 2025 was explained by price increases mainly in the food group (1.0%), durable goods (1.0%) and certain services of the basket (0.1%).
In this regard, they mainly highlighted the increases in the vaccine meat that reached 2.9%, fresh meat with 8.1% and dairy products, which increased 2.2% in the fourth month of the year.
On the other hand, there were also increases, although more moderate in clothing that reached 0.4%, 0.3%household maintenance; and in restaurants and hotels with 1.0%. On the other hand, decreases in fruits and vegetables of 2.2% and fuels of 1.5% were recorded.
On the point, the parent banks stressed that the proportion of the positive variations of the basket was 51%, showing an increase with respect to the month of March (48.8%), thus placing, above the historical average.
It is worth mentioning that the subgroup of vegetables and tubers, experienced a 3.8%decrease in April, also, the egg fell 3.3%, followed by pork (1.0%), pasta and rice; and mineral water with 0.4% decreases each.
Regarding the interannual variation recorded in dairy products, it was observed that it was 9.2%, while oils recorded a 0.7%variation and sugar on the other hand, presented a negative interannual variation of 4.2%.
Main increases by items
The BCP report shows that tomato increased 20.6% in April 2025, followed by fresh fish in pieces with 8.2%. Likewise, whole fish increased by 7.9%.
On the other hand, the second rib rose 7.4%, followed by the pumpkin (7.3%) and the second (7,1) pot (7,1), such as the products that the main increases experienced in April.
The meat hamburger, vaccine, vacuum and skirt, experienced increases of 5.5%, 5.4% and 5.4% respectively. As for the Paraguay cheese, the increase was 5.2%, and the first -fashioned rib and pot, registered increases of 5.1% and 4.4% respectively.
Other products with higher price increases in April were the liver that was 4.3%, UAT milk 3.9%, cat food with 3.2%, the second carnaza (2.9%), banana (2.8%) and whole yogurt with 2.7%.
On the other hand, the main decreases by items in April 2025, were recorded in the Green Locote with 25.4% less, the chard with 23.3% and the parsley with 22.2% decrease.
The potato and lettuce also dropped by 17.1% and 16.2%, respectively, while onion and cabbage recorded a 9.0% drop each. Then they are located, leaf onion (-8.0%), lemon (-7.5%), garlic (-6.9%), and carrot (-5.8%).


Factors that influenced meat and dairy
According to agents of the sector, the vaccine meat recorded an increase due mainly to the heavy rains recorded in the Chaco that hindered the transport of animals to the refrigerators, causing a shortage of supply for the task.
Likewise, this situation joined the increase in demand for the celebration of Labor Day, which promoted upward prices and contributed to consolidate increases in the different vaccinations.
On the other hand, bird meat experienced price increases due to a drag effect for the greater demand of these. As for the dairy products, as well as the previous month, rises in the prices of liquid milk, powder, yogurts, Paraguay cheese and other derivatives were observed, this evolution is linked to the increase in production costs and a lower local offer.
