The president of the Cardinal, Eduardo Méndez, and the owner of the DIM, Raúl Giraldo, those sanctioned.
During this Friday, the Dimayor confirmed a very harsh sanction against Independent Santa Fe and Independent Medellin due to the actions of two leaders of both clubs.
As for the Cardinal, the president was sanctioned Eduardo Mendez with a harsh financial fine of 32,500,000 million pesos for demanding arbitration decisions in the game against América de Cali.
According to the referee’s minutes, “At minute 64, the president of the Santa Fe club appeared in zone 1 (near the playing field) to demand referee decisions. After this, he was asked to leave and went to the exit tunnel and, later, to his box.”
Given this, Méndez received the harsh sanction not only for the protests, but also for being in the vicinity of the playing field without authorization.
On the other hand, the Colombian soccer body also decided to sanction the owner of DIM, Raul Giraldowith the same financial fine of 32,500,000 million pesos for his actions during the game against Bucaramanga on matchday 16 of the League.
According to Dimayor, it was decided to sanction the manager after the presentation of an appeal for reconsideration that was finally denied by the entity since it was delivered out of time.
